Held - Aerial Sound Journeys

Immersive sound experience in the gentle support of a silk hammock

Rest in an aerial hammock as crystal singing bowls and other resonant instruments create space to pause, unwind and settle.

Held is a series of aerial sound journeys led by Becky English of Noetic Sounds at Bend + Fly, West End. Each event offers time to rest in the hammock and experience a live soundscape at your own pace.

About Held

Every Held event has its own atmosphere and soundscape, but the invitation is the same: you don’t have to hold everything together for a while.

Settle into the soft silk of an aerial hammock and feel it gather around you, creating a cocoon-like space to rest. Unlike lying flat on a mat, the fabric gently surrounds and supports your body. You can let your shoulders drop, close your eyes if you wish, and give yourself permission to stop doing, planning and looking after everyone else for a little while.

As you rest, live sounds unfold around you. Crystal singing bowls are at the heart of the experience, with other instruments adding their own colour and texture. Depending on the event, you may hear chimes, a handheld gong, a larger gong or other resonant sounds. Each gathering has its own character, so every sound journey is a little different.

There’s nothing to learn and no right way to experience it. You can simply rest in the hammock, listen and take the time you need. Many people come to Held feeling tired, busy or ready for a pause; they leave with space to reflect on how they feel for themselves.

Each ticket includes one aerial hammock place. Places are limited to 18 per event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience with aerial hammocks?

No. Held is a sound journey, not an aerial yoga class. You’ll rest in the hammock while Becky plays the instruments; no aerial experience is needed.

What happens during the session?

You’ll settle into your hammock and be guided into stillness. Becky will play crystal singing bowls and other instruments to create an immersive soundscape. You can rest and experience the sounds at your own pace.

Is this event hammock-only?

Yes. Each ticket is for one aerial hammock place. This session doesn’t offer floor or mat places, and hammocks can’t be shared.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear comfortable clothing without zips or sharp details, and remove jewellery before getting into the hammock. Bring a blanket and pillow, water, and an extra layer in case you feel cool while resting.

Can I attend on my own?

Absolutely. Many guests come on their own. You’ll have your own hammock place and can enjoy the session quietly alongside the group.

Are there any hammock or studio guidelines?

Please arrive clean and avoid strong fragrances or makeup that could transfer to the hammock fabric. Please don’t attend under the influence of drugs or alcohol. We ask everyone to treat the studio, facilitator and other guests with consideration.

Are there any health precautions or contraindications?

Sound journeys involve listening to live instruments. The sounds, volume and vibrations can affect people differently. Please contact Becky before booking if you are pregnant, have epilepsy or a seizure disorder, a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, a current or recent DVT, or a condition that makes you particularly sensitive to sound or vibration.

This also applies if you experience tinnitus, sound-triggered migraines, panic, or strong emotional reactions to particular sounds. If you’re unsure whether a session is suitable for you, speak with your healthcare professional and contact Becky to discuss the format before booking.

During a session, you can open your eyes, change position or step out if you feel uncomfortable. Please let Becky know if you need support.

Sound therapy is a complementary wellbeing experience; it is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Please continue any prescribed care and speak with your healthcare professional about your individual circumstances.

Please don’t attend under the influence of drugs or alcohol. We ask everyone to treat the studio, facilitator and other guests with consideration.

How early should I arrive?

Please arrive 10 minutes before the session to settle in.

Ensure you allow additional time for parking.

Doors close 5 minutes after the start, no late entry.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

Tickets are non-refundable if you change your mind or can no longer attend. You can transfer your ticket to someone else. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law still apply, including if the event is cancelled or significantly changed.
